Temperature sensors work with the machines computer system to measure/monitor engine temperatures including the lube/oil and coolant in order to control radiators, cooling fans and thermostats. If the sensor fails a warning light will usually show up on the machines gauge and can cause overheating which can lead to serious issues if not replaced.
